The Facility's Past Lives, #7

The big empty building up in the woods on the hill. The kind of place that

fascinates little kids, but that no one else can find a use for.

In the real-world version of the property on Lodge Road, there was an abandoned house on the hill, with clothes still hanging on the wall as I remember, but it was a much humbler place, almost just a shack.

The Facility's Past Lives, #6

Like several other former Grange Halls, the building later known as the Onbekend County Care Facility became a community center -- for awhile. It wasn't exactly conveniently located, up a dirt road on a steep hill, and this is likely what some of the meetings held there looked like.

The Facility's Past Lives, #4-5

Grange Hall -- meeting place of
National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry.

A farmers' association with secret society overtones.  For other old Grange Halls and the uses they've been put to, see here.

Writers' colony. Maybe it was one of the writers who left behind the Gangsters and Gun Molls comic Lindsey reads to Kelly?

The Facility's Past Lives, #3

Military hospital -- like the Ahwahnee Hotel at Yosemite, pictured here during WWII. So, yes, the Facility actually was a
real hospital for a couple of years.

The Facility's Past Lives, #2

Speakeasy. After all, the building was isolated and had plenty of room to party in, and I can imagine drinkers coming in from as far as, well, maybe Cobleskill?

The Facility's Past Lives, #1

Onbekend County Care Facility started out as "some rich guy's hunting lodge", probably back in the days when the New York State Forest, Fish, and Game Commission could afford multiple original artworks for its annual report.
